NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – New Hanover County firefighters contained a fire and saved three cats from a home off Myrtle Grove Road Wednesday afternoon.
According to officials, smoke was billowing out of the property when they arrived. They had to cut a hole in the roof to ventilate the smoke out of the home.
The homeowners were not home when the fire started, but a neighbor said he opened the door to his truck and saw smoke, so he called 911. According to the neighbor, another fire burnt the same home down ten years ago.
The fire was contained to the inside of the house and no one reported injuries. Three pet cats were rescued from the home.
