WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A car crashed into a fire truck responding to an emergency call Wednesday morning on Carolina Beach Road.

According to police, Daniel McIntire, 20, was charged for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle after a witness said he swerved into the passing fire truck.

Wilmington Fire Department’s Engine 6 was on the way to a medical call with its lights and sirens running. That’s when people say McIntire pulled his car into the left lane, instead of yielding right as the truck passed.

The WFD estimates damage to the truck to be around $5,000.

No injuries have been reported.
