TRAFFIC ALERT: Bridge closure on River Road in New Hanover County

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – According to the news release, The North Carolina Department of Transportation will close the bridge going over Lords Creek on River Road located 2.9 miles South of Sanders Drive.

This closure will take place Monday, June 17at 8:00am until Friday June 21, 2013 at 5:00pm.

The release also mentions for drivers to stay alert and to use alternate routes when possible during this period.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Expect overnight lane closures on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - According to the NCDOT press release, The Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will have temporary overnight lane closures on Thursday, June 13 at 9pm until 5am Friday, June 14.

This closure is necessary so crews can perform maintenance on the lighting system and grid deck flooring on the bridge.

Plan for delays if you are heading in or out of town during the overnight hours.

TRAFFIC ALERT: One lane closed on South College Road

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – One lane on South College Road between S. 17th Street and Mohican Trail will be closed to drivers Thursday, June 6th.

Crews are repairing cracks along the road. This closure will take place from 9am to 2:30pm.

Expect delays if you plan to travel on South College Rd.

'Click it or Ticket' campaign celebrates 20 years

'Click it or Ticket' campaign celebrates 20 years

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Monday, May 20th marks the 20th anniversary of North Carolina DOT “Click or Ticket” campaign.

According to the press release, North Carolina was the first state to launch this safety program in 1993.

The release also states, The Click it or Ticket campaign runs through Memorial Day weekend and ends on June 2nd. During this time officers will cite driver’s state wide who do not buckle up.

Bridge work on River Road on hold until June

Bridge work on River Road on hold until June

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - According to Amanda Glynn with North Carolina DOT, crews have postponed work on the bridge located on River Road in New Hanover County going over Lords Creek until June.

Work was scheduled for Monday, May, 13 through Friday, May, 17. D.O.T.Crews have to perform maintenance on the substructure of the bridge.

According to Glynn, crews delayed construction to prevent traffic tie-ups during the school season. Anderson Elementary, Ashley High School, and Murray Middle school are all located around the area.

Glynn says the bridge is rescheduled to close sometime in June.

We will keep you posted on exactly when this closure will take place as soon as we get word.
