Kickoff for Relay for Life will take place at Slife of Life

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, the Pine Valley location of Slice of Life will be hosting the kickoff event for Relay For Life, according to a news release.

A $5 donation to attend the event is required, and the event will feature live music, children’s activities, a cornhole tournament and more.

Attendees will also have the chance to dunk a Slice of Life employee for a donation, and there will be a silent auction and a raffle.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Members of New Hanover County Fire Rescue will be presented with more than $15,400 of life-saving equipment Wednesday at the Firehouse Subs restaurant on Carolina Beach Road, according to a New Hanover County spokesperson.

The extrication tools that the department is getting will specifically help them to rescue victims in motor vehicle accidents.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Bojangles’ is making Valentine’s Day a little sweeter by offering its limited time heart-shaped Bo-Berry Biscuits®.

According to a press release from the franchise, the biscuits will be available in participating locations from Friday, Feb. 8 through Valentine’s Day.

“Bojangles’ is always looking for fun ways to celebrate the holidays,” said Bojangles’ Senior Vice President of Marketing Randy Poindexter.  “This mouth-watering treat has been a customer favorite since it was introduced more than 20 years ago, so we felt offering the heart-shaped biscuits would be a fun and fitting way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.”

The heart-shaped biscuits will be available as a pair in addition to the half-dozen and dozen.

Bojangles’ is also offering their Facebook fans prizes in the coming days.

Wilmington coffee shop closes; will reopen as restaurant

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A former Wilmington coffee shop is currently in the process of being transformed into a restaurant.

The Coastal Roaster, located in the Beau Rivage Shopping Center, closed Dec. 31. Soon, the remodeled space will reopen as Niche Kitchen & Bar, according to a sign posted on the business’ door.

“We will be open for lunch and dinner, and feature new eclectic cuisine prepared by Chef Chris Newton, formerly of Cape Fear Seafood Restaurant (for those of you who have enjoyed our homemade soups over the past 2-years, you’ve sampled just one of his many talents in food preparation)” reads the sign.
