Dozens of firefighters are putting out flames on Fontana Rd.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The sheriff's office has officially joined in an investigation between the fire department regarding a house fire that happened Friday.

Dozens of firefighters responded to a fire at 7208 Fontana Road in the afternoon, which is near Ashley High School.

Crews from the New Hanover County Fire Department, as well as the Wilmington Fire Department, responded to the scene.

According to fire officials, no one lives at the house, the home did not have power for about a year.

There was a lot of smoke while crews worked to put out the flames. The house next door had some smoke damage, too.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
