News

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A pedestrian was hit and killed in the Monkey Junction area Monday night.

According to officials, Jena Ravelli, 39 of Wilmington, was buying groceries and was hit by a car when attempting to cross the street.

Officials say the incident happened in the 5500 block of College Road, near the Lowe's Foods store.

The intersection near Carolina Beach Road and College Road was closed off Monday night while crews cleared the area.

According to troopers, the driver likely won't be charged in this incident because the pedestrian was a fault for crossing without a crosswalk.
