WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A year after the brutal murder of Carol Ann Johnson, no arrests have been made.
Investigators said it's been a tough case to break.
One of the biggest challenges they've been faced with is finding out who did what, and detectives said there were no eyewitnesses, which has caused a major setback into their investigation.
Detectives say things are moving forward, and they hope to make an arrest soon, but they need some help, and they are awaiting results from the NC State Bureau of Investigation in Raleigh.
Since last July, detectives said they've gathered large amounts of hard evidence but still have a lot of work to do.
"This is very different from any of the other cases we've had in the past year," said Lt. Tom Witkowski with the Wilmington Police Department. "There are a completely different set of facts involved in this compared to others so we can't lump it together to anything else."
The case is still open, so investigators could not comment on any details.
If you know anything, you are asked to call the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3600.
