NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Several schools in New Hanover County were recently recognized for their “green” efforts and were awarded for quality and excellence as part of the Keep New Hanover County Beautiful project.
The Cape Fear Center for Inquiry and Holly Tree Elementary received the School of Excellence Award, while Mary C. Williams Elementary, Pine Valley Elementary and Wrightsboro Elementary received the School of Quality Award.
Each school was presented with a banner during an awards ceremony last month at Airlie Gardens. In the fall, the schools will be given plants to help beautify their campuses. According to the county, each school also received a cash prize to further their “green” initiatives.
