'Revolution' to film outdoor fight scenes

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The upcoming NBC series Revolution will be filming fight scenes in Wilmington this week.

According to film permits, the production will be filming on Masonboro Sound Road Thursday, Friday and Monday afternoon/nights.

Three cast members are expected to take part in the scenes that will include a "circle of torches" on the intracoastal water side of the road. The film permit says the scenes will also include day and nighttime prop gunfire.

The City of Wilmington is one of 11 cities across the country to win the opportunity to host a preview of the new NBC sci-fi series, Revolution. Wilmington's screening is set for Thursday, Sept. 6 at Thalian Hall at 7:30 p.m. It is free, but you need a ticket to get in.

Extras needed for 'We're the Millers' film

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Casting crews for Jennifer Aniston's newest film "We're the Millers" are looking for extras for a scene involving a fair.

The movie's casting company, Double A Casting, posted on their Facebook page an ad for extras.

The ad says anyone is welcome to submit for a part in the fair scene. They ask that anyone who has already played a part in the movie refrain from applying because this scene is supposed to be set in a different state.

The casting company is also looking for people to leave their RV's on set for a two week long shoot. Monetary compensation is available.

Filming will begin Monday August 27 and last till September 12.

Film starring Jennifer Aniston to begin filming in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Another film is expected to start production in Wilmington this week.

According to film permits, We're the Millers will be filming on River Road between Independence and Sanders Road overnight Wednesday.

The film permit describes the scene as a driving and towing sequence. Apparently, an RV breaks down along the side of the road, two actors walk along the road to get help, another RV pulls up, and the broken RV gets towed.

According to IMDB, We're the Millers, starring Jennifer Aniston, is a comedy about a veteran pot dealer who creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a hug shipment of weed into the US from Mexico.

River Road between Independence and Sanders Road will be closed from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Production crews for an HBO movie are expected to be in Wilmington Monday to film a few scene on Cabbage Inlet Lane, according to a film permit.

The movie, Martha and Mary, is about two women trying to eradicate malaria. Directed by Phillip Noyce, the film features Hilary Swank and Brenda Blethyn.

The film permit says the characters will be shot attending a book club meeting, a yoga class, and meeting with friends.

Part of the movie will also be shot in South Africa.

Special effects, stunts expected during 'Iron Man 3' filming

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Production for Iron Man 3 continues in Wilmington on Thursday.

Filming will take place at the National Gypsum on Sunnyvale Drive, off of River Road, according to a film permit.

Crews will work through the night and into the early morning hours.

The release said the shoot will involve special effects and stunts.

The company has filmed all over the Port City and spent time in Cary recently. Marvel said the movie will head to China sometime later this year.

'Iron Man 3' will be on location again this week

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Iron Man 3 is back in Wilmington this week for filming.

According to a film permit, the production requested to shoot at the National Gypsum on Sunnyvale Drive. They asked to use the location overnight on six different days.

The scenes being shot are described as "exterior building scenes involving special effects and stunts."

The permit says that 150 members of the crew, 91 extras and three cast members will be involved in the scenes.

The production has asked for police officers to help with traffic control on Sunnyvale in both directions after 7 p.m.

Around 5 p.m. Thursday, what looked to be a giant green screen was set up along with two large cranes.

Filming took place last week in the Cary and Raleigh areas of NC.
