WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Wilmington City Councilwoman Laura Padgett returned to work for the first time Monday since having a double organ transplant of a kidney and pancreas in March.
As usual, Padgett was vocal during the city's agenda brief, asking questions about the Wilmington Housing Authority's rezoning request and the continuing issue of downtown signs.
Padgett said she was not able to keep up with all the issues on council during her absence, but was pleased to hear the City had moved forward with the annexation of Monkey Junction.
Padgett said she is still catching up with emails from the past month but wants to thank everyone for the well wishes.
