CFPUA honored for surpassing water standards

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Cape Fear Public Utility Authority is among 35 water systems honored for surpassing federal and state drinking water standards.

CFPUA and others were recognized with the NC Area Wide Optimization Award from the North Carolina Division of Water Resources' Public Water Supply section.

According to a news release, the water systems are gauged each year on ability to demonstrate outstanding turbidity and microbial removal.  Microbes are tiny naturally-occuring particles that can potential contain bacteria that can be harmful.
