'Glee' cast member stars in music video, extras needed

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - One of the stars of Glee is coming to Wilmington to film a music video, and producers are looking for a lot of teenaged extras.

Local mother Amy Wright posted on Facebook that she and her family have written and recorded a new song called "Be the One." The inspiration came from their involvement with a non-profit organization called Best Buddies.

The group helps create opportunities for friendships, employment and leadership development for people with intellectual disabilities.

The Wright family also recorded a song in 2012 called It Starts With a Voice.

A fashion show, brunch, festival, and oyster roast will be held Feb. 19 to Feb. 23.

A “Garden Party Ready” Fashion Show featuring torri/bell, Gentlemen’s Corner, Reeds Jewelers, Bangz Hair Salon and Spa, Robbins and Fiore Fine Flowers will be held 7 p.m. February 19 at The Terraces at Sir Tyler.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC(WECT) - Volunteers with the Murray Middle School PTA are organizing a dinner theater and silent auction on April 4, but they need help from the New Hanover County community -- specifically, local businesses.

The dinner thater and auction will be a unique event that includes a catered dinner, performance, a dessert social and silent auction.

To help celebrate, locations across the country will be hosting a birthday celebration all day long Monday, Feb. 18.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The creators of a film produced in the Wilmington area are looking for help so they can take the movie to upcoming festivals.

According to a fundraising website for The Hermit, the movie is a coming of age story that focuses on a man who has become so disenchanted with the world around him that he has chosen to remove himself from it, and a little girl with a drunk and abusive father who is searching for her own escape.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington's Real Alternative radio station, THE EDGE 88.5 FM, is going off the air Nov. 12.

The move is coming after one of the larger donors to the station, was forced to pull its monthly contribution. The anonymous donor accounted for $8,000 a month.

According to Matt Wall, Development Manager, it was not only this large donation that kept the Edge broadcasting.
