WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Former Congressman Bob Etheridge talked to supporters Saturday about his plans if he's elected for governor.
Etheridge says one of his biggest concerns is funding education, which he says is vital to the state's future.
He told potential voters that an educated workforce would help attract business to this part of the state after two big companies recently decided to build elsewhere.
"It's great to have the eastern North Carolina as a destination for tourism, but to protect and maintain that, we also want a lot of good jobs year-round," he said.
Etheridge also says the state needs to improve its ports to attract more businesses to the area.
