WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – As part of the YWCA’s national program to bring awareness to the issue of racism, the group’s Lower Cape Fear chapter will hold its third annual Stand Against Racism on Friday, according to YWCA officials.
Participants will form a “human chain” from 4:30 – 5 p.m. along South College Road, from the YWCA to the corner of New Centre Drive.
Anyone is invited to participate.
The YWCA Lower Cape Fear is also teaming up with Cucalorus Film Festival to stand against racism. Cucalorus will host a free showing of a film called Banished by Marco Williams at Jengo’s Playhouse on Friday at 7 p.m.
The film is about three communities that forced black families out, and their descendants come back to learn about their history.
