NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – An adaptation of The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel of the same time, will hit the silver screen in May.
Until then, the Friends of New Hanover County will host several free public book discussions throughout February about the novel.
The book is about a Midwesterner now living on Long Island who finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbor. He is drawn into a circle of friends, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy.
Discussions about the novel will take place:
The film, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, is co-written and directed by Baz Luhramnn. It is slated to hit theaters May 10.
