Wilmington Fire Department hosting weekend baseball tournament | Community Spirit

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Wilmington Fire Department is hosting a baseball tournament Saturday and Sunday, according to a news release.

The events will benefit the Firefighter’s Memorial, and they will be held at Veterans Park, located at 555 Halyburton Parkway. The memorial is meant to honor seven area firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty, as well as the firefighters who were killed on 9/11.

There will be plenty of family-friendly activities, including raffle prizes and a fun house.

Admission is $5, and there is no cost for children under the age of 6.

There will be an 8:30 a.m. ceremony on Saturday, and the games will begin at 9 a.m.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, there will be a firefighters versus coaches softball game.
