WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Hundreds of pounds of pet food will go towards the R.A.C.E. Shelter Animal Rescue Group of Brunswick County, according to officials with Aunt Kerry’s Pet Stop.

A suspected puppy mill bust was made last week in Brunswick County, and as a result, the dogs were distributed to various rescue groups statewide, including the RACE Shelter in Shallotte.

Aunt Kerry’s Pet Stop teamed up with Natural Balance Pet Foods to donate the food to the shelter. Thursday afternoon, many trucks on behalf of the R.A.C.E. sent were packed up and filled with the pet food.

“We are just thrilled that Natural Balance was able to make such a generous donation to this cause, and we want to thank all of our amazing customers that donated food and monetary gifts, we feel like we have the best customers on earth,” said Aunt Kerry’s Manager, Jen Cole, in a statement.

If you’re interested in adopting one of the dogs, visit http://www.raceshelter.org/ to fill out an online application.
