NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The New Hanover County Schools Middle School Spelling Bee, featuring six schools, will take place on Thursday, March 15, according to a news release from the school system.
Each middle school in the area will be represented by three students competing for the title of “top speller.” In order to make it to the competition, students had to qualify by placing in the top three of their school’s contest.
The county-wide Spelling Bee will reportedly be moderated and judged by members of the community, including Board of Education members, a UNCW librarian, and a newspaper columnist.
Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend the 6 p.m. event, being held at the Holly Shelter Middle School auditorium on Roger Haynes Drive in Castle Hayne.
