NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Keep America Beautiful of New Hanover County was recently awarded nearly $4,000 to purchase recycling containers for Hugh MacRae, Veteran’s and Ogden Park. Bins for aluminum cans and plastic bottles will be installed and maintained by the New Hanover County Parks Division.

The REPREVE® Recycling Grant Program, through its parent company Unifi, reportedly donated grant funding to four Keep America Beautiful affiliates in North Carolina to increase plastic bottle (PET) recycling. Other grant recipients are Keep Greenville Beautiful, Keep Nash-Edgecombe Counties Beautiful, and Keep Gastonia Beautiful.

This grant program, focusing on local community-based plastic bottle recycling programs, is the first by Unifi with Keep America Beautiful.

Recycling Ambassadors are needed. Scout Troops or Environmental Clubs are invited to participate and should contact Jennifer O’Keefe at jeokeefe@nhcgov.com or 798-7564.
