WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services says flu activity in the state is at the highest level recorded in the past decade. There have been 14 flu-related deaths since early October, with 11 of those deaths in patients age 65 and older.
Local pediatricians say their main concern right now is cases of the flu.
At Cape Fear Pediatrics in Wilmington and Hampstead Dr. David Hill says they are seeing ten cases at each officer everyday.
At Carolina Pediatrics in Wilmington doctors administered 134 flu tests, 49 came back positive.
There is also a tummy bug with vomiting and diarrhea.
