5K to benefit cancer research scheduled for March 25

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A 5K benefiting the Dear Jack Foundation is scheduled be held Sunday, March 25 at Veterans Park.

Registration is $20, and participants will receive a T-shirt.

The Dear Jack Foundation helps to research leukemia among young adults, and was founded by the lead singer of rock bands Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin, Andrew McMahon.

McMahon was diagnosed with cancer in 2005 when he was just 22. Doctors caught the disease early on, so he was able to undergo treatments and recover.
