NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death in the 4500 block of Tesla Park Apartments.
Sgt. J.J. Brewer with the Sheriff’s Office said the cause of death does not appear to be suspicious. Stairs leading to an upstairs apartment are closed off with crime scene tape.
The sheriff's office was called to assist EMS officials shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, where they found a 25-year-old female unresponsive.
She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The name of the deceased person has not been released, and an autopsy is expected to be completed by some time next week.
Brewer did confirm that the 911 caller claimed that the victim was on synthetic drugs, but he cannot confirm that the death was caused by an overdose.
